This is an attempt at comparing
these two synths. Very basic sounds were used to highlight
any fundamental differences between the sound engines. No
effects were used. The only processing done was to
normalize the recordings so they are as close as possible
in level.
The
raw waveforms sound very similar, but there seems to be a
bit of a difference. The filter comparison was at full
resonance using the LP 24 db filter. They sound a bit different as
well.
I found the Nord Lead 3 to have a cleaner and thinner
sound than the Nord Lead 2. I sold it to get a G2x, but
didn't like the sound characer of the G2x either (too much
like the NL3). So, I bought an Alesis Andromeda instead. I
still have the Nord Rack 2 and plan to keep it for a long
time.
